HOW GREAT IS OUR GOD

The anthem rings out again and again—“How great is our God.” It’s more than a lyric. It’s a declaration of unshakable truth in the face of a world that trembles at chaos and change. This song lifts our eyes from the storm to the sovereignty of the One who wraps Himself in light and reigns from age to age.

In our day-to-day lives, we often forget this greatness. We may find ourselves wrapped not in light but in deadlines, diagnoses, conflict, and confusion. Darkness tries to hide, but it only does so when we take our eyes off the One who speaks and silences the shadows. The invitation of the song—and of Scripture—is to sing anyway. Not because life is perfect, but because God is. Not because we feel strong, but because He is our strength.

The lyrics remind us of the triune God—Father, Spirit, Son—united and eternal, holding time itself in His hands. This isn’t poetic flourish; it’s reality. And when we grasp it, even briefly, worship becomes more than music. It becomes trust. It becomes perspective. It becomes peace in the present and confidence in the future.

There’s a reason the phrase repeats so many times. It’s a spiritual anchor. When the world is loud with worry, we answer with praise: “How great is our God.” Say it. Sing it. Believe it. This greatness is not just seen—it is lived.
